SURPRISE LEARNINGS

Don’t mess with high school hairdos!

This multi-phase research project served Facebook’s Education teams to better understand what barriers exist to effectively integrating immersive technology as a tool in high school classrooms. Our research returned sharp insights on the values of asymmetrical learning experiences and exposed how to overcome technology and curriculum barriers many high schools face. Final research conclusions allowed client to further strategize in what role immersive learning should play in their product teams.

Takeaways:

1.

Recruited, engaged, and facilitated pilot research sessions across a diverse cohort of schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and Greater Seattle metropolitan areas

2.

Identified, strategized, and overcame challenges in how to juggle multiple product devices in high school classrooms

3.

4.

Designed self-directed and asymmetrical classroom learning experiences that challenged students to work together on an “impossible” field trip using product devices

Trained teachers in device usage, then conducted observations and interviews on how they facilitated lessons using immersive devices in their classrooms
